Asked
Questions

Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. Please review this information before contacting us. If you have any questions that are not addressed here, feel free to reach out to us!

Q: Do you accept stray animals?
A: No, we do not accept stray animals. However, below is a list of local organizations and shelters that do:

Indianapolis Animal Care Services - 317.327.1397

Southside Animal Shelter - 317.781.0755

Heaven After Hell - 317.455.5758

Q: Can you take in all types of pets?
A: Yes, we accept all types of domestic pets. We welcome rabbits, birds, dogs, cats, snakes, and turtles. While we don’t board or facilitate the adoption of fish, we will have an extravagant fish tank in our lobby filled with beautiful and rare fish.

Q: What are the costs for your services?
A: Our services are completely free of charge. We will house, feed, and bathe your pet while they are in our care at no cost. Each pet will also receive updated shots and be spayed or neutered, depending on the length of their stay with us. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we rely on donations to support our services. Additionally, we have a consignment shop with used pet goods available at affordable prices.

Q: How long can you care for my pet?
A: We will house your pet for as long as you need. We understand that if you need our help, you are likely in a difficult situation, and we don’t want to add to your stress. Your pet can stay with us at no cost for as long as necessary. In cases where reunification isn’t possible, we will facilitate adoption and find your pet a loving and permanent home. We will reach out to you biweekly or monthly, based on your preference, with pictures and updates of your pet. If you do not respond to our outreach three times in a row, we will then consider your pet adoptable.

Q: Where is your facility located?
A: Animal Kingdom Inc.’s facility is set to open in 2025. It will feature an aquarium, wings for each species, a modern dog park, and more. Currently, we do not have a physical facility and operate solely through our dedicated fosters. Once opened, our facility will be located in Indianapolis, Indiana, and will support all local cities and the surrounding region, space permitting.

Q: Do you provide shelter for both humans and their pets?
A: Currently, we do not have a facility to house both animals and their humans. However, we are excited to announce our upcoming project, Paws with a Cause. This initiative will provide shelter for domestic violence victims and their pets. The facility, which will be open 24/7 with security and staff on-site at all times, will offer fully furnished, cost-free apartments for victims, their children, and their pets for up to a year. There will be options to extend the stay beyond a year on a case-by-case basis, depending on our waitlist and available resources. Residents will also have access to various resources, including after-school programs for children, case management, job programs, and more. Additionally, they will be able to keep the furniture in their apartments and take it with them when they move. This shelter is set to open in 2025.

Q: Can I visit my pet while they are in your care?
A: Since all of our pets are currently with foster families, we cannot allow frequent or open-ended visits due to privacy and logistical constraints. However, Animal Kingdom Inc. will facilitate monthly visits between you, your pet, and their foster family. Additionally, we will send biweekly or monthly updates, including pictures and videos, to keep you informed about your pet’s well-being.

Q: What should I bring when I drop off my pet?
A: When dropping off your pet, please bring the following items:
•    Updated vaccine and medical records if available.
•    Food and favorite toys for comfort.
•    Dogs: Please bring them on a leash and collar.
•    Cats: Bring a carrier for safe transport.
•    Cage pets: Include their food and bedding.
•    Animals in tanks: If possible, bring their tank. If not, ensure they are in a secure container with adequate ventilation.

Q: How can I get involved with Animal Kingdom Inc.?
A: As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we rely solely on donations to operate. Here are several ways you can help:
•    Monetary Donations: You can donate directly to our PayPal account via the link below.
•    Donate Items: If you don’t have money to give, you can still help by donating gently used items such as old cages, leashes, collars, food, treats, toys, bedding, and bowls. Click the donation button below to fill out an intake form, and we will arrange to pick up your items.
•    Volunteer: We need volunteers for public outreach. Help us spread the word by distributing flyers at local malls and informing people about Animal Kingdom Inc.
•    Foster: Sign up to become a foster. Until our facility opens, we rely on our dedicated network of foster families. More fosters mean we can assist more families in crisis.
•    Wish Lists: Check out our wish list on Amazon to purchase everyday items for our pets and fosters. Click the links below to see our current needs.

Q: What kind of support do you offer for families in crisis?
A: We provide no-cost boarding for pets of families in crisis, including those facing homelessness, domestic violence, or hospitalizations. We will keep pets as long as needed, and if you decide you can no longer take your pet back, we will facilitate adoption to find them a loving and permanent home.
